UPDATE-HAA Newsletter as of March 31, 2017 House and Senate Hearings

We will have our work cut out for us….two hearings in one day!  All about Annexation!

The House hearing at the Capitol in Austin was just announced...it will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2:00pm.

The last HAA Newsletter just went out indicating that the Senate Hearing will also be on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 9:00am
Currently, we only have it on good authority that the Senate hearings will take place at this day and time as it is not yet showing on the Calendar.

A bus has been scheduled to take us to Austin and will drop us off at the Capitol steps. It is encouraged that you sign up to go to Austin on the HomeownersAgainstAnnexation.com website….indicate if you are taking the bus or are driving yourself.  A headcount from this signup will assist us with the organization of the trip.

Location of Bus: Walmart at Boerne Stage Rd and IH10W
Bus Capacity:     56 people     (14 people have signed up as of this writing)
Time Leaving: 6:30 am (yes that is early!)
Time Returning: 6:00 pm
Misc: Bring lunch/snacks  
Donations: $20/per person.  HAA will subsidize the rest of the cost of the bus.

This event is extremely important to anyone who favors having the right to vote on the annexation process.  This day at the Senate and House hearings will no doubt be an inconvenience but less of one compared to paying years of higher property taxes and having our current rights and services being infringed upon.  This will be our chance to speak out (testify) or just be there to register your support.  Click here for more information on testifying, registering support.

Although the Legislative calendar has not yet been updated...we have it on good authority that the Senate hearing at the Capitol in Austin will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 9:00am. While our sources are giving us the best information they have, please keep in mind that dates and times are subject to change. Everyone’s patience is much appreciated.

It’s Time to Fight to End Forced Annexation….Let’s Go To Austin!
The Committee Hearing for the Senate Bill, SB715, is likely to be set for as early as next week...Monday, March 27 or Wednesday, March 29...or maybe even later.  The way in which they schedule these Hearings leaves us very little time to react.  But we will react.  We have written countless letters, emails, and have called on our legislators to support the Bills that will give property owners the right to vote on annexation (HB299, HB424, SB715).  Now it is time for us to be at the hearing in Austin to either testify in front of Committee Members or to register our individual support for the Bills.  We have to physically be at the Capitol to register and/or testify. It is imperative that we be there for the Hearings!  Sign up to go to Austin at HomeownersAgainstAnnexatio.com
Testimonials are to be no more than 2 or 3 minutes...the rules will be defined by the Committee Chairman at the time of the Hearing.  It has been advised by various authorities to have a few focused testimonies on specific topics (rather than repeating the same message in a marathon fashion) such as… municipal financial irresponsibility, broken promises from previous annexations, and most importantly, giving homeowners the right to vote on annexation!!!  Please contact Barbara Green at BarbMGreen@aol.com for more information about testifying.


The HAA would like to help support the effort of getting to Austin by chartering a bus to get us there early and return later that day.  A donation of $20/person is needed for a bus.  If there are more people that sign up than there are bus seats, you will have to arrange your own transportation. Parking locations near the Capitol will be listed on website.

Sign up to Testify in Austin

I Want To Go To Austin!

Sign up here to go to Austin to testify or simply register your support for HB299, HB424 and SB715 at the Committee Hearings at the Capitol.  

The dates of the House Committee Hearings and the Senate Committee Hearings have not yet been set.  Could be as soon as Monday, March 27 or Wednesday, March 29.  When the dates are announced, you will be notified as soon as possible.  You must be ready to go to Austin on short notice (within a few days).  A bus will be arranged and will leave early and return later that day.  You can also make your own transportation arrangements.

 This is our chance to fight for our right to vote on annexation!  Let's show Texas we are serious!
